Thanks Royal Troon Golf Club

31 Oct 2026 –Storm Beolo driftwood blockage of the Pow Burn Path

Our grateful thanks to Royal Troon Golf Club for their positive cooperation and prompt action to Jimmy’s request for assistance in clearing the huge number of huge tree trunks and other debris dislodged and driven across the Pow Burn flood plain on to and blocking the ACP footpath to South Troon beach.

Despite huge problems themselves from severe erosion of the big dunes along South Beach, within 18 hours of our request – and by 0930 on Friday before our squad was on scene to begin clearance at the Caravan Park end - Billy McLachlan the Royal Troon Course Manager had one of his staff with a bucket tractor already on scene, and had already cleared 90% of the heavy debris off the path and formed into a thick heavy border which we reckon will, over time, prevent further floating storm material from encroaching onto the path.

Meantime, relieved of any heavy lifting, Stephen, Tim, Tom, Kevin, and Peter spent the morning collecting over thirty rubbish bags of plastic litter, and cleared the path margins of gorse, brambles, rosa rugosa, small branches and stones to allow us to cut this section easily in the spring with our heavy self-propelled mower.

Altogether, a job well done.
