THE RESULT
Well, on Saturday 26 April 2025, the rain stayed away for most of us and we all apparently enjoyed the fun and friendship as usual.
This year’s big beach clean attracted more than 150 environmentally-conscious folk to tackle 19 beaches between Girvan in the south and Irvine in the north, thus helping to brush-up our spectacular coastline in good time for the summer season. These commendable individuals collected a total of over 300 bags of rubbish along with sundry larger items which had been washed-up or abandoned. Fishing gear and ropes constituted a larger than usual proportion of the debris.
Ayr and Alloway Rotary clubs along with the Ayrshire Coastal Path all helped to organise the big event with essential and appreciated assistance from the two councils, South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire.
Grateful thanks is due to many, including dedicated community groups, charitable organisations, youth groups, holiday-park owners, farmers, landowners and dozens of individual volunteers. All helped to make a big difference so WELL DONE TO EVERYONE involved – your time was indeed well spent.
Check out all the organisations’ Facebook pages for more chat and photographs.
